Living In Glen Walter

The town of Glen Walter is located directly east of Cornwall along the waterfront of the St. Lawrence River and is officially part of South Glengarry Township. A small town of only a few hundred people, the community is more of a subdivision-style area than an actual town, having no main street or central district.

What Glen Walter does have is waterfront – and lots of it. Stretching East when you enter Glen Walter from Cornwall, you will find Gray’s Creek Conservation Area (a small park with excellent walking trails and a marina). Continue east and you will find 3 superb executive home subdivisions located on or around the picturesque St. Lawrence River waterfront. New homes continue to be developed and this area features some of the largest and most luxurious homes in the entire area. A man-made lake on Yacht Boulevard allows for even more waterfront activities. There are still some premiere building lots available in all 3 subdivisions.

As you continue winding down the waterfront on Highway 2, you will notice a private golf club – the Cornwall Golf and Country Club – the area’s most prestigious golf course. This private, members-only club has been in existence for over a hundred years and is the backdrop for many large single-family homes.

Glen Walter then becomes a bit more of a town, with some small streets leaving Highway 2 with smaller single family homes located in and around Glen Walter Park – a large park with soccer fields, baseball diamonds, tennis courts, a play area and BBQ area as well as a nice paved walking/bike path.

Staying on Highway 2 you then enter cottage country with several cottage-style homes located on nearly every square foot of waterfront. Most of these homes are older and seasonal, but several are being upgraded and refurbished for year-round living.

Prefer country living without the cost of waterfront or waterview?
Glen Walter offers multiple subdivisions such as Bayview Estates, Sapphire Hills or Paragon Road that are close to Cornwall, but in a country setting. These areas feature large lots, friendly, quiet streets and access to parks, quintessential country living within a 2 minute drive of Cornwall and Highway 401.

Glen Walter’s Premiere Living
The Cornwall area really has 4 premiere Executive Home living areas (Chantine Meadows, Moulinette Island and parts of Riverdale) – but Glen Walter is the most popular destination for professionals such as doctors, lawyers, judges and business executives.  The waterfront, close access to Cornwall (a 2 minute drive) and the abundance of parkland make it an ideal living place.

Houses in this area do not go up for sale very often and the price range can be anywhere from $300,000 to $1.5 million for an exclusive waterfront location. As a result, several of the homes are custom built on new lots being developed.

There are currently several developer lots available in Glen Walter, in some of the Cornwall area’s best locations.
